2010!! Bring it On
As I sit here in the Lufthansa Executive Lounge at the Calgary Airport, drinking a free beverage, I can’t help but to feel like a bit of player. A feeling one could get used to. Although I sure it will dissipate quickly as I cram into the airplane and settle in for a lovely 9 hour journey to Germany, hopefully next to someone smaller than myself in size. I’ve had some epic trips sitting next to some folks trying to fit their business class derrière into an economy size seat. Wicked! We are presently getting ready to head back to Europe for the final three World Cup races of the season in Konigssee, Germany, St. Moritz, Switzerland and Igls, Austria. The Holiday break was very relaxing and lots of fun. Darla and myself drove out to Whistler on the 23rd and spent my first Christmas away from my family, and second away from Russell. Different for sure, but very nice to be relaxed with no obligations and nowhere to run off to. We did some sliding as well and came home on 31st in time for New Years at home. I know I’m getting older because I had no interest at all in going out to celebrate. Perhaps the 24 hour turnaround to leave for Europe was the deterrent but for whatever reason we rang in the New Year in our living room with Ryan Secrest. As it stand right now, our teams have been determined for the Olympics. Official announcements will be made at the end of the month after the conclusion of the World Cup season. I have done what I need to do and will have a spot on that team providing I stay alive and healthy until February 18th, 2010. I feel good at the moment and plan to stay that way. Lots of stuff is out of my control, but that what I have an influence over I am doing everything in my power to steer in the right direction to give me the best possible chance for success in the Big Show. I’m excited for what lies ahead and know that regardless of the outcome, I’m lucky to be on this journey… but I’m still gunnin’ fer Gold!!!!!
